Ster, a prominent national broadcaster in the Netherlands, is responsible for managing advertisements across radio, television, and online channels. Their customer portal, essential for managing media campaigns, was in need of a significant update.
The challenge
The goal was to upgrade the portal's user experience while preserving its core functionality. We set out to create a solution that improves user-friendliness and integrates seamlessly with the existing brand guidelines.
The approach
1. Team assembly + mapping
We assembled a multidisciplinary team, equipped with the skills to tackle the challenge. This team played a crucial role in mapping out the customer journey and setting both the long-term goal and immediate challenge for the project.
2. Evaluating the existing portal
We conducted a workshop to assess the current portal, focusing on identifying its strengths and weaknesses. We relied on both qualitative and quantitative data to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the portal's performance.
3. Crafting a clickable prototype
Based on the insights gained, I developed a clickable prototype in Figma, aiming to improve the areas identified during the evaluation phase. The prototype was then tested with actual users - the advertisers.
4. Incorporating feedback
We took the feedback from the prototype testing, using it to refine the design. I was responsible for the full UX build, ensuring that the final product reflected the valuable user insights we had gathered.
5. Building a design system
To facilitate rapid design and development, I repurposed Ster's current brand guides into a suite of reusable components. These components collectively formed a unique Design System for the portal, resulting in consistency and efficiency in design.
This project was a rewarding exercise in balancing the functional needs of a portal with the experiential needs of its users. It was an opportunity to enhance a tool vital to Ster's advertising management and I am proud of the results we achieved.
