In Timepath's early stages, we aimed our no-code tool for creating timelines at a wide user base: journalists, freelance writers, students, etc. However, we were faced with a lack of focus. This lack of clarity on our target audience for me was a challenge to build a product that truly matches the user needs.
My Role
As a co-founder and Lead Product, I used my wide-range of skills in UX/UI Design, Product Design, Product Strategy, and Product Ownership to establish the product's design and strategic direction.
The Approach
To pinpoint our target audience and sharpen our focus, I organized a design sprint. We analyzed all available data, from beta list form responses to Google Analytics and current database information, to gain comprehensive insights. We took the data-driven approach.
The Solution
The design sprint findings were crucial in refining Timepath's focus. It became evident that our product was particularly valuable for publishers. This guided our strategy and product development efforts moving forward. It allowed us to find product-market fit.
I took responsibility for creating the platform's branding, including its colors and overall look and feel. I also developed a landing page for the initial launch of the product.
Thanks to the clear focus obtained from the design sprint, Timepath transformed into a precise and user-centric product. This focus was essential for Timepath's growth and success in its current form.
The platform now empowers publishers to create professional-looking timelines and live blogs in minutes without any technical skills. With pre-made templates, even those new to creating timelines or live blogs can get started quickly.
The Impact
Timepath has become a timeline and live blog creator for publishers, providing an easy, efficient, and no-code solution. It is now used by big Dutch media companies like AD, NRC, RTL Nieuws and DPG Media. The platform's user-friendly and intuitive design allows users, in particular journalists, to create engaging stories.
This project showcases my ability to design a product from the ground up into a user-centric solution. Timepath's success is due to the power of data-driven decision-making, a keen understanding of user needs and last but not least, the driving force and perseverance of the founder Frido van Driem.
